Why a Lions Club for EXPATRIATES?
Like in almost bigger cities, especially in capitals, you have many foreigners, business men/women and diplomats who come to work there for several years (so called Expatriates or Expats). Often the foreigners bring also their family along and live during these years in their own small society mostly business colleagues and/or fellow countrymen. Most of these foreigners have leading positions in companies and/or other organizations but don’t speak, especially in the beginning, the local language. Therefore it is for them difficult to become directly member of a local (business and/or rotary) club and participate with the local population on the improvement of the society. In the beginning they also have often problems with finding their own way in the new city and country.
Lions Club EXPATRIATE (Expat) together with more than 1,300,000 Lions Club members and 45,000 clubs worldwide would help them to integrate in the local society and help them with the simplest daily issues like finding a good school for their children, maybe a help in the household and from time to time a babysitter. In return we expect these foreigners and their families (Family activities) will participate in local charity projects and use their international knowledge and network for improvement of the local society. Most of these foreigners speak English that’s why we are starting/started the first English speaking Lions Club in the region. Further we don’t want to be just a charity club but also a group of people who help each other in private and business, maybe even find good new friendships.
If you are interested, even that you are not an expat, please feel free to contact one of our members of the Extension Team, or Download the Member Application Form and send it to us.
We are looking forward to hear from you.
